Subject: Best way to go

I wrote my book in one month. I started June 10 and finished the whole story on July 10. I thought because it was about my father who was portrayed in the Disney movie "Remember the Titans" that all the publishers would jump on the manuscript. My father was on the Ed Sullivan show, he bodyguarded for Martin Luther King, Jr., and played at Eisenhower's inauguration, the first black band to ever be invited to do so. However, I soon came to see that it wasn't easy to get a big publisher to bite. So I sat on the manuscript for a while. Then, took a class and it gave me all the steps to publish the book myself, so that's what I did. Within four months of starting the self-publishing route, my book "A Titan of a Man" was published and I presented it as a surprise anniversary gift to my parents. I'm proud to say I did it ALL myself and defintely encourage others to follow that pathway if they will maintain the motivation and desire to get their project out there. My second book "Babies Dribble and Drool" just came out. I self-published that too. My next book is coming out in a few months. I'm doing it all myself again. Once you do the first one, the initial costs involved with starting a publishing company aren't there anymore, so it was cheaper to do my second book because I am already an established publishing company. Those are my thoughts. Self-publishing is the way to go as far as I am concerned.
