The Pre-Sing Interview with Paula Hines Lonergan (maybe with a little adjustments)
Lyon Seahurst: (enthusiatically)
Well, Paula Longeran, you're back again. I think you were here last year.
Paula:(kindly)
It was actually two years ago that I sang.
Lyon Seahurst:(gladly)
We're happy to have you back Paula Lonerang. What are you going to sing today?
Paula:(joyfully)
Well, I was going to sing Get Here by Brenda Russell. But I asked Karaoke Machine Man if I could change it. He said I could. I didn't think I had the voice to sing it today. You see I had a cold back in January and then after 4 days it turned to larygitis. I could barely talk. Then on Friday, I tried my best not to talk. Do you know how hard that is? But I did did not talk for the most part.
Lyon Seahurst:(interrupting her abruptly but softly)
Paula, Paula Longagan, that is a great story, but we want to hear you sing now.
Paula:(excitedly)
Oh yes, sing, that's what I came to do. I almost thought I wouldn't be able to sing because of this laryngitis that I had. It seems ever since I got it, my voice just hasn't been the same. I sometimes feel a little voice weakness. Sometimes it even affects my ability to talk.
Lyon Seahurst: (interrupting her abruptly but gently)
Yea, right, I couldn't tell that.
Paula:(overjoyed)
Oh you can't? Oh good. Oh maybe I should have stuck with my first song then. But then it's probably too late. You see when I signed up for the song two days ago, I was feeling pretty strong in the voice. However, I must tell Mr. Karaoke Machine Man, his listing of song really lent themselves to the, how can I say this, well, the crowds who fancy Bob Dylan it seems. Maybe not Bob Dylan but you know the rock and roll stars of yesteryear.
Lyon Seahurst: (interrupting her, unperturbedly)
So Paula Longagran what song did you choose?
Paula: (calmly)
Roberta Flack.
Lyon Seahurst:(questioningly)
Paula Lonergran, well, Roberta Flack is the artist but which song by Robert Flack are you going to sing?
Paula:(reassuredly)
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.
Lyon Seahurst:(relievedly)
Paula Longran we look forward to your performance. Ladies and gentleman, Paula Longranman will sing for us now.
